OurCompany

At Sooner Private Financial Council, we believe your why matters more than the how much. Since our founding by Eric Cooper, we’ve redefined financial planning: no product-push, no silos, just purpose-driven strategies designed to serve your life goals. We operate as a council, a collaborative team model that brings expertise from wealth management, tax, legal, risk mitigation, and business advisory to every plan. We are private, because we partner only with clients who seek deep, values-aligned outcomes.

The Sooner Family of Companies is headquartered in the Live Free or Die state of New Hampshire. We serve clients all over the country, in addition to ex-pats and foreign nationals with complex asset and tax considerations.

Eric Cooper, Founder & CEO: Eric Cooper has spent his life building and leading. From starting his first business at 15 to founding the Sooner family of companies, he has always been driven by a singular purpose: helping people align their wealth with their values and create a life of clarity, impact, and freedom.

For 14 years, Eric has navigated nearly every corner of the financial industry—banking, insurance, wealth management, business consulting—only to discover the same problem repeated everywhere: fragmented advice. Traditional firms prioritize scalability and products, leaving clients with disjointed strategies and blind spots that hold them back.
Eric built Sooner Private Financial Council to change that. Acting as an integrated command center, his team brings together six essential disciplines—advanced tax planning, wealth management, income planning, risk management, estate and legal strategy, and business value acceleration. This unified approach helps purpose-driven clients break free from confusion, outgrow outdated teams, and achieve total command over their financial lives.

Clients who once felt overwhelmed or uncertain experience a powerful shift: from reactive to proactive, from imposter syndrome to absolute confidence. This is the transformation Eric lives to create—turning wealth into a force that reflects who you are and what you stand for.

A national champion public speaker, devoted husband, and father of five, Eric lives in New Hampshire, where he pursues wild places as a hunter, coaches youth basketball, and continues his lifelong study of leadership and building things that matter.

Josh is a Chartered Tax Consultant, Main Street Certified Tax Advisor, Fiduciary 65 Investment Advisor, & Certified Business Mentor with an MBA— bridging the strategy gaps across taxes, investments and operations for small business owners. His early career in elite military service gave me servant leadership, integrity, and military-grade strategic thinking. He has built companies, raised venture capital, and spent the last two decades steering how businesses, and the people who run them—move financially and operationally. Josh gained global perspective through his time spent in over 40 countries across five continents. In his spare time, he has cave dived in remote regions, climbed harsh terrain, or decompressed on long motorbike rides.

These days, peace looks like shared adventures with friends, time with family, or helping others on their journey. As someone who values experiences above all else, Josh knows that having things truly taken care of—without second-guessing—is what unlocks more of life’s best moments. He does this work to help business owners reclaim their most limited resource: time— time to think, time to build, and time to focus on what truly counts. Josh simplifies chaos— bridging the gaps between tax strategy, investment advice, and day-to-day operations, the three crucial areas that often don’t interact. Josh does this through delivering real tax strategies, clear financial structure, and operational clarity—year-round. That clarity starts by architecting a tax-driven blueprint that leverages the tax code to protect profits, reduce drag, and align each owner’s goals and values with their life balance sheet. He then applies first-principle thinking and third-order decision-making to cut through the noise and bring the each part together into one actionable path. The result: everything works together, and no decision is made in isolation. As his clients’ quarterback, Josh keeps taxes, investments, and operations working in sync so they can focus fully on what matters most.

ForCPAs and Enrolled Agents

CPAs think advisors are salesy and needy; advisors think CPAs are rigid and arrogant. No wonder old school referral relationships result in frustrated professionals and frustrated clients! We wished for a framework that allows CPAs and advisors to do their best work together for great clients while eliminating all common points of friction. So… we built it, and it’s awesome.
